The first decision someone has to make before setting up his new aquarium is where he is going to place it.
The aquarium has to be away from direct sunlight so that to avoid the intense formation of algae in the aquarium walls.
It would be better to avoid possitioning the aquarium near doors or windows. Shutting them will scare and may shock the fish. If the aquarium is small, it will also be good to be away from heat sources so that you can control more effectively the temperature of the aquarium. Being next to a heating source will not affect the aquarium as much as being on top of a heating source.
The ideal place to position your aquarium is a dark quiet corner away from heat sources. By placing the aquarium there you will achieve a very impressive visual result as the bright aquarium will be in contrast with the dark surroundings. Also, a very good idea is the positioning of the aquarium as a separative of two areas in your house. Apart from the impressive result, the aquarium will also be away from doors, windows and heat sources.
